    Spent his formative years at Noradjuha. In 1942, at 15 years of age, he joined the Victorian Public Service in Melbourne. From 1945 to 1947 he served in the RAAF with the British Commonwealth Occupation Force in Japan. Starting out as a cash van salesman in Melbourne, he held marketing and general management positions with food companies in Sydney and Adelaide. In 1973 he assisted his wife, Elaine, and their family members to establish, develop and operate a ladies fashion business, 'Walter Kristensen', manufacturing in Adelaide, wholesaling and retailing on a national basis. In 1993 Jack and Elaine retired to the Sunshine Coast where they established and operated 2 wholesale plant nurseries. In 2011 they built a house and made their home at Tewantin, near Noosa.
