- Interestingly, he was granted three months leave on full pay (between 14 Apr 1919 and 17 Jul 1919) to work on a farm called 'Down Farm' at Milton Damerel, Devon. Presumably this was a learning experience provided prior to repatriation to help ex-soldiers in their civilian lives after they returned to Australia.
