Sacred/to the memory of/Richard Cann/yeoman of
this parish/who entered into the joy of his Lord on
the/18th day of May 1838. Aged 52 years/having
been born of God by baptism of/water and of the
Holy Ghost, and by the /ministry of an ordained
clergyman of of Christ,/he kept his covenant like a
Christian man./In the midst of much heresy and
schism he/did not depart from the faith once
delivered/unto the saints, but faithfully remained a
true/member of the Church of Jesus Christ./wherefore we who remain have committed
his/reliques to the ground, in sure and certain/hope
of the resurrection to eternal life./Would to God that
we might say at the/last as this our brother said.
"My soul hath/"longed for thy salvation, O God, and I
have a/"good word "/"me hope because of they word."/"let die the death/"of the righteous and let my last/"end be like his."
