COTTLE, c.1808-1887) and four of their children William JEWELL (1837-1853), Mary Ann JEWEll (1833-1853), Thomas JEWELL (c. 1834-1853) and John Cottle JEWELL (1839-1859) It seems to be safe to say that Geelong in 1853 was under the threat of some type of pestilence which took a tragic toll on this family.
