Served during the American Civil War as a Sergeant, Company K, 8th. Illinois Cavalry Regiment, a unit in the Union Army. To be more precise, his unit was involved in many battles during the war, including the Battle of Gettysburg as a unit in the 1st. Brigade, 1st. Division Cavalry Corps, Army of the Potomac. He was killed-in-action on 6 Jul 1863 near Williamsport MD. His brother Thomas VINSON (1837-1890) served in the same regiment.

WICKETT, 1801-1874) lived in the white tenants house then known as West Blatchborough. My great-great grandparents William WALTER (1790-1858) and Grace (m.n. VINSON, 1796-1867) lived at North Blatchborough which no longer exists.
