CANN) to Illinois (IL) from Ontario, Canada in 1849 and lived in Geneva IL and St. Charles IL where he met and married Mary Ann ROSA on 3 Jul 1851. Nathan was a Saddler and Harness Maker. A further move to Lawler in Iowa (IA) occurred in 1869. His wife Ann died in 1897 and Nathan died in 1903 in Waucoma IA where they are both buried.

In 1891, Nathan visited his brother, William, in Orono IA as the following article appeared in a local Orono newspaper where William was living:
"Mr. Nathan Walter, Iowa, brother of William Walter of this town and a former old resident, is here on a visit after an absence of 42 years. Mr. Walter fought in the army of the Potomac under General Grant in the American War."
He sustained injuries when his horse fell on him and he had to file a petition to receive a pension.
Nathan married ROSA Mary Ann 3 Jul 1851, St. Charles, Kane IL. Mary was born 1 Jan 1832, Lenox, Madison NY; died 21 Nov 1897, Lawler, Chickasaw IA; was buried 24 Nov 1897, Waucoma Cemetery, Waucoma, Fayette IA. [Group Sheet]
