Over the many years that it has taken to collect the information contained in these pages many generous people have assisted me in many ways. I would like to publicly acknowledge their contributions in a small way on this page.

Firstly, I would like to thank Irene WATSON (a distant cousin of Belmont, Victoria) and the late Jeanette BURNS (North Geelong, Victoria) whose advice soon after I was stuck by the "family history disease" was freely and humorously given. Much advice was received and many enjoyable hours were spent in the company of Irene and Jeanette. More recently the advice of Heather COX (Cairns, Queensland) has been very valuable.

Distant cousins Reg WALTER (Erith, Kent) who is the expert in the WALTER family world-wide, John WALTER (Torquay, Devon), Dorothy CLEAVER (Northam, Devon), Shawn DYMOND (Bude, Cornwall), Marion STAINSBY (Belmont, Victoria) and the late Agnes WALTER (Branxholme, Victoria) all of whom are much better qualified than I am, have always offered willing help in many ways.

Cousins Ian WALTER (Newtown, Victoria), Jennifer BANTOW (Geelong, Victoria), Sue O'CONNOR (Sydney, NSW), the late George WALTER (Horsham, Victoria), John WALTER (Bacchus Marsh, Victoria), Bruce THOMPSON (Werribee, Victoria), Ian IRELAND (Exeter, Devon) and the late Helen MULLER (Horsham, Victoria) have over many years provided much information and many family photographs in a most generous way.

My North American connections Steve MacDONALD (Kalamazoo, Michigan), Jean BAILEY (Oshawa, Ontario), Robert HORSLEN (Belleville, Ontario) and Bruce WALTER (Winnipeg, Manitoba) have provided images and large amounts of information which appears on these pages as has Lynnette TOMES (Christchurch, New Zealand). All was given freely.

In more recent times, significant updates have taken place particularly on the ROBERTSON, BENNETT and YATES families. Distant cousins on the maternal side of my family, Pauline HOWE, Mary (Molly) KING, her late mother Eileen STOTT and Cheryl DUFF have contributed greatly to these updates. On the WALTER side of my extended family, distant cousin David REGAN (Paisley, Renfrewshire) has provided very significant information on the JOHNS and VANSTONE families which are so strongly connected to the WALTER family. Shirley ADAMS has provided very recent and important updates to the WALTER family.
